The Miracles of the Qur'an

Lazuardi Lazuardi, Muhammad Yusup Pulungan

Abstract

This study aims to examine the nature of the Qur'an as the eternal miracle of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and to analyze two differing perspectives regarding the source of its miraculousness. The research method employed is library research with a qualitative approach, relying on the analysis of primary sources such as Qur'anic verses and classical tafsir literature, as well as secondary sources from the views of scholars and Muslim intellectuals. The findings indicate that there are two main perspectives on the origin of the Qur'an’s miraculousness: external factors and internal factors. However, based on historical evidence and textual proofs from the Qur'an itself, it can be concluded that its miraculousness originates internally, particularly through the beauty of its language, coherence between verses, information about the unseen, historical accounts, scientific knowledge, legal content, and numerical phenomena. The discussion strengthens the position that the Qur’an’s miraculous nature is inherent and not dependent on external elements. In conclusion, the Qur'an stands as authentic proof of the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him) and remains relevant throughout time. This research recommends that future scholars explore further the numerical and scientific aspects of the Qur'an through interdisciplinary approaches to enrich contemporary Islamic scholarship and tafsir studies.
